The Brooklyn Americana Music Festival kicks off on Sept. 12, and for the next four days, various venues in Brooklyn will host folk, blues, bluegrass and more. The opening event is at Jalopy, in Red Hook, and includes short sets by several musicians playing later this weekend, including the Vermont folk singer Fern Maddie. She plays tonight at Jalopy and at the Dumbo Archway. Many festival events are free.  - GIG ALERT
